The Entangled PI, Abigail Moffett, was invited to give a lecture at University College London on 12 February as part of their UCL Institute of Archaeology Thematic Research Seminar series. Titled “Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean world: rethinking ports, trade routes and object itineraries in the global Middle Ages (500-1500 CE)”, Abigail’s talk introduced the ENTANGLED project and its aims, problematised our current understanding of trade routes, ports, and the objects that moved through them, and highlighted the unique perspective offered on these themes by examining interactions between southern African communities and the wider reaches of the Indian Ocean World.
The lecture was well-attended by members of the UCL department including faculty, researchers, and students.
